Here’s a little Waffle update for you guys!

Pierre the Diamondback Terrapin went out to explore today after a peaceful afternoon thunderstorm.

Diamondback terrapins are the only turtle species in the United States who live in the brackish water (a mixture of fresh water and salt water) of salt marshes and estuaries.

For more information about this amazing species, check out: http://www.defenders.org/diamondback-...

If I had known he was fine I would not have picked him up! I just needed to check and see if he was injured because then I would have taken him to our local bird rehabber. This is a hermit thrush, a common forest dweller here on the Georgia coast. They like to skulk around under bushes and on the forest floor looking for insects and other arthropods to eat!

If you find a bird that has hit a window sometimes they are just stunned. This little guy warmed up on my hand (he was shivering) for a bit then flew away when I got done recording.

We went out road cruising and found two banded watersnakes and then a juvenile cottonmouth! He was super calm. While they can be defensive, they are not aggressive animals. This little fellow didn’t mind us being near!
